So I was extremely bored the other day... I decided I'd write a program that converts english into 1337, and vis versa. Thus, 1337 Speek was born.

GroupChat - Moved!

Our software GroupChat (developed and co-owned by Jailout2000 & Deleted_screen) has migrated from this website onto it's own at Jailout2000's website, it can be located under the subdomain GC...

For any of you who need support, or just want to discuss GroupChat, you will need to visit GroupChat's new forum at the above website, the GroupChat forums here have been closed and will stay closed until further notice, they would be deleted instead but we decided to leave them there for history and anyone who might be coming here to find GroupChat.

We have exciting new features in mind for GroupChat, we are also (slowly) working on GroupChat v2.0! It's commonly known name is GCv2, GCv2 is re-created from the ground-up, it uses better code and more efficient ways to do everything.

After GCv1, we realized that the code we were using was bugged, so we decided to learn a few tricks and so now we're implementing these tricks into GCv2, I have already tested it and they work great, also for anyone who cares to notice, if you visit GCv2 with a web browser, you'll get a statistics page, and also again if you noticed, GCv2 has support for many different protocols, these protocols being text-based, binary-based, or both.

I have been solely re-creating GCv2 by myself, Deleted_screen hasn't really helped much other than tell me some stuff and idea's, of course that's expected because of how much more programming I know than him.

GCv1 will NOT be compatible with GCv2, and vice versa. GCv2 uses ALL binary-based systems, GCv1 uses a text-based system which uses binary-characters, it's not actual binary.

Because GCv2 is using a binary-based system now, it allows clients to send any byte they want inside a message, and they won't mess up the packet, each packet now has a header, this header tells information about the packet, currently the header consists of 3 bytes, the first byte is the packet id, the next 2 bytes is how big the packet is (0-65535 only). GCv2 expects each header to be only 3-bytes big, Each packet may have it's own data, and that data can be anything, literally.

Also because GCv2 is a binary-based system, and GCv1 isn't compatible with GCv2 (and vice versa), this means that any PHP-scripts will have to be re-written right? Well, this is sort of correct, I will be modifing the scripts to ask you (or the client, whichever) to specify which version it'll be using, and based off of that it'll do it's actions. GCv1 will be the default, that's just because we don't want to cause trouble with current clients, and since GCv2 hasn't been finished yet, it just plainly makes sense to have GCv1 be default on the scripts.

The scripts may have to be re-written, but a lot of the code should stay the same, a few minor modifications is all what's needed inside these scripts.

Anyway, this has been another GroupChat update provided by yours truly, Jailout2000.

Sorry about the downtime!

Hey everyone...

We (Jailout2000 & TutorMe) are sorry for the downtime you may have seen during the past week here at REALbasic Tutorials... while we were doing some FTP-related stuff with another website (that uses the same FTP directory), we accidentally moved the RB Tutorials website into another directory, making the web server not able to find where this website's HTML directory was.

This caused a 404 Not Found error from our hosting company (1&1 Web Hosting), as a result no one could visit this website for a good amount of time.

All of this has been resolved, and REALbasic Tutorials is back up and running!

GroupChat - No activity

We (Jailout2000 & Deleted_screen) haven't seen any activity since March, and we're wondering when activity will finally arise...

Currently, servers are not available to end-users anymore, we want users to use our servers for security reasons, this means that you'll need to know what the server's IP will be, I've already made a PHP script to handle this.

Even though the servers are no longer available, the clients are. And as always, you can still make your own client if you want, we have no plans to disable that anytime soon (or anytime at all). So go ahead, if your making a client at this moment, keep making it, nothing's stopping you yet.

The latest server version is 1.1.1.0d, the protocol specification has been modified since the last version, however we cannot let everyone view the new specifications until we've finished with 1.1.1.0d, which won't be happening anytime soon.

As for the specification, the old specification will still work, but a few added features (such as a new channel packet) are still unknown to the developer, but some of these packets can be seen and activated by using a server command (such as the new Leave command). The server version packet should still be used in the case of compatibility, because at anytime we might need to downgrade due to problems with the new version, so knowing the server version should save you any trouble (such as being disconnected for sending an unknown packet).

Anyway, I would just like to let everyone know that servers are no longer available, clients are still available and can still be made, and that the new PHP script should help with any server/client problems you are having. For the developers, you can use the Get an online server part of the PHP script which will allow your users to automatically find an online server from one of us (Jailout2000 or Deleted_screen).

I also have plans to have a server message of the day, so when you login, you'll receive server information with a message of the day, included in the MOTD will be the new server's statistics command (Users, Stats or Statistics). I do not plan to implement this asap, because we have other problems we need to fix first (such as duplicate channels), so just a thought at the moment.

GroupChat is in beta stages!

Hello. We are pleased to announce our next software release, GroupChat, is now in it's beta stages.

GroupChat is basically highly powerful chat software, it can do almost anything you want.

Since it's in it's beta stages, so we want to hear any bugs you find so we can fix them!

Also, in other news for this GroupChat, someone wanted to buy this from me (Jailout2000) for money. I told him I'd make up my mind later, well I think I've just done so, I'll be making this freeware, or really cheap shareware.

But for now, since it's beta, it's totally free. As long as you keep the beta registration code in your server settings, removing that registration code will make it so that you cannot use some features (it'll think your using a demo).

The registration system it uses was developed by me and thought of by me. It works with any web server that supports PHP, the same registration system is also used with my other products.

A live update will not be available, I will be taking the reports giving here and implementing them into GroupChat on my computer, and afterwards telling the result in that same report.

I have also created an area in the forums for products, this is the only product in there for now, but I hope to watch it build!

Announcing - GroupChat

Ok so Deleted_screen, his friend FiskFisk33, and I have been working/beta-testing this new chat server and client.

So far it's been going well.
The server cannot be crashed even under the most intense situations (we've tried our best in trying to crash it, even brought 4 spammers and loaded them all at the same time), if you do try to flood the server, your client will be flooded before the server crashes.

No, the server is not multi-threaded. It is however multi-sockets (it's not using the ServerSocket class, but instead an array of TCPSocket's).

At the moment, nothing is final, but here's a quick put together list of features.
- Banning of IP's and usernames.
- Messages, Emotes, and Whispers.
- Various chat commands (squelching, kicking, whois, join, etc.).
- Channels, including clan channels.
- Users, at the moment must be created by server admin.
- Customizable client id's and name's for anyone who wants to create they're own client.
- Server commands is on a separate packet, this means clients can decide to use forward slash or whatever for server commands.

The protocol is using binary, not text, so don't be surprised if you don't understand it right away, speaking of which they're are multiple ways of doing various things, such as joining channels or whispering.

Site Downtime

The site was recently down due to a spamming attack launched by someone exploiting an insecure script on the site. The issue was resolved, but not before my hosting account was locked for close to twenty four hours.

Over fifteen hundred spam e-mails were launched from the vulnerable script.

The site is now back up, but changes may have to be made to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Announcing - INcrypt

RBtutorials is proud to announce its first software release, INcrypt.

INcrypt is a simple text file editor, with the ability to encrypt files. It uses a simple encryption method that makes files unreadable. To the average person, the encrypted text looks like gibberish, but the method of encryption may be noticeable to anyone with general cryptography knowledge.

With INcrypt, encrypted files can be opened on any computer, with any text editor. However, you have to have INcrypt to be able to read the contents; otherwise, it will be unreadable.

INcrypt should still be considered under development, but we have released it now in a BETA-like release. With this said, please feel free to check it out. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
